I've had a old Kenwood receiver in my basement for years, recently I found an old speaker and decided to use it with the Kenwood. It worked flawlessly for the rest of the night but the next day while listening to it the receiver shut down and I could smell smoke. I unplugged it and put the whole system aside. What went wrong?

Do you think we are Clairvoyant? What speaker? Why one speaker? How did you hook it up?

My guess is technical ability on a par with ability to frame a problem.
