Do we really need video processing by receivers?

YES/NO?

WHY?

I have spent a great deal of money to purchase HD players,PVR's, PC's and even projectors that are known to process effectively. Why do we want recievers to do anything other that sending a video signal to the projector/monitor from multiple sources and sound spectacular.

I am curious to see what the administrator have to say about this.

I read a comment about one of the recievers, upon review, stating that videophiles may want to avoid it. A true videophile would not likely want a receiver do any video processing( or at least very little).

you sorta answered your own question, in that people that purchase higher end goods might not need the processing, its not to say that an avr processor might be better in some cases. As for the person that just dropped all of their hard earnd cash on an avr, and doesnt have the money to upgrade their other components, they would benfit from it. Your system will always only be as good as its weakest link, so in that ill be living inside speakerbox in about 15 years:D
