WoW!

I had an old VHS tape we wanted to look at. I hooked up an old Fisher 4-head stereo VHS ( left/right audio, composite video) to the Marantz SR8002 AVR, which is connected via HDMI to Vizo LCD TV.

The picture was actually pretty amazing, better than the original VHS I remember!

The upconvert works pretty well, from composite video to HDMI. My TV is only 1080i ( still need to upgrade to 1080p maybe next year).

Very cool, Midcow! Glad that worked so well for you. I recall that my brother's Denon from back in the early 90's had some video enhancing, and he liked how it worked.

I had an old Proscan VHS player hooked up to my RX-V1800 and my room mate was playing some old home videos on it, and I was actually very surprised how good it looked on the 73" screen after the receiver did the upscaling on it. I guess some of these receiver's scalers actually aren't half bad.

That is an interesting trick from a 240 line VHS resolution:D
