I need someone to help me figure out how to build a 4th order 25hz high pass, the numbers I posted are way off.

Unless I'm mistaken, you want to build a passive LR4 HPF.

...NO! Definitely not at these frequencies!

If you're interested in a DIY analog HPF it's certainly possible however. Here's some good resources for that:

It's slowly coming together! All that's left to do is build the internal part of the vent, and put the side on.

Are there supports that I should be building for the actual speaker? I mean, it's pretty heavy (the speaker), but if I don't need to build supports, then I don't want to.

Also, I want to put a handle on the top (as the total weight is going to be well over 30lbs, plus it's just plain bulky). Any handles you guys recommend? I'm looking for the type that's on guitar amps.

Don't do it, I say. 30 lbs is nothing man, seriously. Are you seriously going to be trucking these around on a daily basis, throwing em in your truck, for shows 'n stuff? I don't think the aesthetic compromise is worth it, and in all honesty, I don't think they're even needed. Just my opinion!

You have 2 of those?? I have a smaller house, and the one I'm building is going to take up the entire floor space beneath my computer desk. 2 would just require a lot more space than I have to spare right now.

Well, that's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, it's just really awkward to carry around, but it's not like I would be moving it around a lot.

Mine is 280 lbs, which replaced one that was 130lbs, if that puts things into perspective. No handles!

You said speakers, so I though you were talking about some bookshelf build for a specific app or something. No you don't need* anything, but some Auralex subdudes/grammas might help out . . . I don't use em on my subs, but that's just me.

btw, that screen is 13" out from the wall. the subs are 2"ish out from the wall.

that is a 12x19x8 living room. that is a 12' wall.

i am trying to sell my place. when i do (not going well atm), i hope to have the room to have 2, or more, 18" subs.

Well, I have the space, it just wouldn't work very well. Besides, I'm heading off to college next year, so it's not like I would be around to enjoy it.

I can imagine the boxes for a pair of 18" subs would be...sizable.

Got it all put together and stained...all that's left to do is to varnish it.

Finally got around to uploading the pictures of the completed box.

Sounds kick ***! Although I will have to purchase a more powerful amp, probably something around 300w RMS.

P.S. it's not as dirty as it looks in the photos...

Nice job on that box. I've never heard of the woofer before although it does look kind of sketchy, but it sounds like you made an optimal box. Did you ever figure out the high pass filter issue?

Not quite, I never figured out the exact parts needed.
