Velodyne SPL-1000R: Is there a minimum input level to trigger it?

I have my Velodyne SubWoofer hooked up to my Integrated Amp. I am using the Pre-Amp outputs.

I notice that the Velodyne does not seem to give any output until the volume of the input reaches a certain level. Is this normal? (I observe this with the Auto-on feature turned off as well).

Yes, it is somewhat normal for a sub in auto detect mode to be somewhat sensitive to input level. If you used something like a receiver with an adjustable sub output level you could probably find a happy medium between that and the gain adjustment on the sub....
