Velodyne DD-18 vs. Paradigm Servo-15

Hi: I am upgrading my subwoofer and am wondering if I should go with the DD-18 or the Paradigm Servo-15? I have not heard the DD-18, but I have heard the Paradigm and liked it. The guy at the store told me the Paradigm is faster and cleaner. Can anyone help??? Thanks!!!! I have a room that is 22x22. I am replacing a Signature Sunfire

Are those the only subwoofers you'd consider? Is it the Servo-15 or Servo-15v2?

BTW, here is a punch of measurements on both. I think the guy you talked it was trying to get the sale.

anyway, the built in EQ of the DD itself is worth the unit price.
believe me, if you want the best, just buy the best. (it'll be cheaper in the end)
if you want cheap, get that one or there are lots of other choices.

Kind of an apples vs. oranges comparison. $5000 Velodyne vs. $2500 Paradigm. The Velo is a better sub. As far as being twice as good........probably not. You can always buy a SMS EQ from Velodyne to lessen the technology lead the Velodyne has over the Paradigm for about $600. How did you come to the Paradigm vs. Velodyne conclusion? Remeber, use salesman only when you need them. Trust your ears and not the sales pitch.

if you can pay $5000, i suggest you may consider fathom f113 as well (it costs around $3000). actually, i'm also deciding between f113 and servo-15 v2, but certainly not dd-18 because of its price...

whats that $2500 paradigm? SRP or RRP?

Most resellers will discount the DD series. I have heard as low as $3K for a new DD-18. I have purchased three DD-18's (only one of them new) and the most I paid was $3,200. At the "street price" it is an excellent value.

SRP from what I have gathered for the Paradigm. Of course that isnt what anyone is ever gonna pay for them but its a baseline to start at for reference of comparison. A much better comparison is obvioulsy the DD-15 vs. Servo 15V2 in both terms of price and performance but the poster asked about the 18. I dont feel that the DD-18 vs. Servo 15 is fair. That particular Velodyne is possiby one of the top 5-10 subwoofers available to the public on the planet.

You may want to consider the Def TEch Ref Sub. They also have the Trinity that will break your foundation and walls!!
