oops

Thanks for the correction on the high-pass filter. mis-spoke there for a minute. you'd think an electrical engineer wouldn't make those snafus :) i've done some modelling of both the 15" revo and the 12" lms and though they both are recommended for sealed boxes by winISD, the 12" seems to model very well in a ported box, with better output down low than the 15"! any specific reason not to do the 12" in a ported box? thanks again.

you have a PM ringbearer...

If they model out good, then cool... maybe it was just the larger LMS's

I have never modeled out the LMS drivers in any enclosure, but saw all the postings and graphs on them....

Well as you know so well, that you can return the SVS if you don't care for it...

Can you say that much about the Trinity... I mean your spending around 2K here... Will your dealer let you sample the Trinity in your home..?

Its a hard question to ask here, how many people have heard all of those subs..? I know I would like to know the answer, but not at the expense of my wallet... ?
Good point. I haven't heard all those subs, but I have asked similar questions in the past, have looked at a lot of them, and am personally leaning towards getting the PB13-Ultra myself. Once I recover from the holidays, I'll probably pull the trigger on the Ultra. I hope this helps. ;)

driver decision

Hey guys. I'm in the thick of design right now and there's a pretty smoking deal available on both a TC2000 DVC 15" and an LMS4000 12". i've been doing some modeling in winISD with both of these drivers. i'm really looking for clean, fast, accurate sound down to 20 Hz (lower would be just fine too of course :D)

here's what i'm looking at right now:

the first is for the tc2000 DVC.
i've got it modeled in a 13.9 cu ft. enclosure tuned to 17.3 Hz. dual 6" ported with 32" vent length. butterworth high and low pass filters at 15 Hz and 120 Hz.

the second is the lms 4000
this one i've got set up in a 10.6 cu ft enclosure tuned to 13.4 Hz with dual 4" ports 33 inches long also with butterworth high and low pass filters set to 15 Hz and 120 Hz.

both systems modeled running 1200 watts.

i'm having a hard time understanding how the 12" driver is modeling so much more linearly down to lower frequencies. i'm sure that i'll be happy with either of these options as i've heard nothing but good things about either of them.

is there a reason to go with the 15" rather than the 12"

let me know what you think, thanks.

Hey AcuDefTechGuy, where are going to get the Trinity so cheap? I would like to buy a SC Reference or Trinity. How about a SVS PB13-Ultra, where could I get one of those for cheaper than MSRP?

Counsil,

SVS is an ID (internet direct) company and as such there is no way to get their products below their prices--which, btw, do provide very good value even at their stated prices. In any event, you can always check the b-stock page at SVS as you can sometimes find PB13s on there for $1,399 or even cheaper.

As for Def Tech, you will have to negotiate with a dealer or you can always keep an eye out on Audiogon for a good deal....
