I have the HGS series 18 inch. I have used many settings, but for some reason it is either too much or not enough. Of course this varies by source. Can someone please tell me about phasing, crossover suggestions (I use ProAc100's) as sats.

You should start by reading the Audioholics Subwoofer Measurement Standard Part I thread below. Then you will be able to narrow your question to the more specific details.

The HGS-18 is a great sub but it is minus the EQ feature of Vleodyne's DD (Digital Drive) subs. You can always purchase an Velo SMS-1. That has been a great tool for me in understanding my subs in room frequency response, phase and levels with a real time view of any changes.

If you don't want to spend several hundred dollars for the Velodyne analyzer/equalizer there are other alternatives. For about $99 you can get a Behringer Feedback Destroyer (BFD) which is a 12 band parametric equalizer for solving bass response issures. You use it in conjunction with a Radio Shack analog Sound Pressure Level meter, a disc of test tones and an excel spreadsheet. While its more work to understand and set up, you can be very precise with it. If you want to know more let us know or search the internet or forums under the BFD name. I think the $99 dollar BFD is model 1024P. You learn a lot messing around with a BFD.
