V3800 HTPC / OSD Issue

First I want to say thank you for all the valuable input I found on these forums, without it I would have never found Axiom Audio and those wonderful M80 speakers or the RX-V3800 in the deals, Deals, DEALS section.

I recently upgraded from a RX-V550 to a RX-V3800 (thanks tomd51! :D)

…and in doing so have an issue that I can’t for the life of me figure out  I’m using a HTPC with my V3800 and a 61” JVC HD-ILA TV. The problem is when I use the Yamaha OSD and then switch back to the HTPC input; the screen goes a weird green color. The only way that I found to fix the color problem is by cycling power on the HTPC and the V3800. I’ve tried every video setting in the OSD but no joy. As long as I don’t use the OSD everything is ok

I’ve sent an email to Yamaha support but I’m not holding my breath. I also scoured Google but there wasn’t anything that was useful or even close to my problem, so I was hoping someone might have run across this problem before and could help.

Here’s my connection setup:

HTPC (DVI out –HDMI in) - > V3800 (HDMI – out) - > TV

peace

Ok, after a bit of testing I figured out that when I change a resolution setting in the nVidia control center it fixes the problem, so not a show stopper but a bit annoying.

Also, I got an email back from Yamaha saying that it seems like an HDMI handshaking issue.

Whatever the case, after the initial setup I don't think I'll be using the OSD so it shouldn't be an issue. I just wanted to post this and maybe it might help someone having the same issue.

Peace

And finally...LOL!

I switched from a 7800GTX to a 8600GTS w/HDCP and the problem went away. So if you're thinking about using this receiver for a HTPC I would advise that you use a video card that has HDCP. ;)

I was trying to pm you but I haven't reached the post count yet so my only choice is to post my question here.

Hope you don't mind that it's off the thread topic ...

I am a current Axiom M22s and VP100 owner and am considering seriously trading up to M80 and VP150. My main concern is whether my RVX3800 can handle the M80s? Would you mind share some of your experience. Also, do you have to change the speaker impedance setup per the 3800 manual page 122?

Appreciate very much your help.
