I was born just outside of SLC Utah and lived there untill I was 21. I miss the mountains!
Know on to the subject:
It would be interesting to see a shooutout between the flagship speakers from Wilson Audio in Provo and the flagship RBH speakers in Layton. ;)

Nothing like skiing the steep and deep of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons right Surveyor? :D

Aren't the Wilson's quite a bit more expensive then even the top of the line RBH's? And don't they need 1,000 watt amps or something like that? Or am I confused with some other speakers? Either way the RBH's probably sound better. ;)
The skiing and scenery is fantastic.
I think the Wilson Audio Flagships are ultra efficient, but not positive?
The Wilsons are more expensive (in excess of 50 grand).
I've heard and read that their sound (Wilsons) are as good as it gets,
but you can't believe everything you hear or read?
I'd like to see a shootout! :)

Cute, Duff. Yeah, I think it's like comparing a Jag to a Lamborghini, tho'. I'll take either one if someone is giving them away, btw.

(I'm still having trouble sleeping, what with the whispers from those Wilson 7B's in my head.../\/\/\/\/\/\___....ooooooooh suhweeeetie!) :D

Ummm, Wilson doesn't make anything called the '7B' are you thinking of Aerial 7B's?

As far as Wilson making the "best" speaker is all subjective, some people hate Wilson Audio and others absolutely love them.

Wilson Sophia's are their cheapest offering at $11,700 per pair.

You are SO right. See, these speakers are making me crazy! Yep, my bad...Wilson Puppy, etc, are not the ones I was referring to. Aerial 7b's are the ones I heard last week.

I think I must have forgotten my pink pills tonight....or was it my green ones??? :(

To adequately define what a flagship speaker is, it's useful to be precise about what it is not. It is not a product targeted at a price point, or a demographic, or a market niche. It is not about compromise in any parameter. It's safe to say that the Wilson Audio X-1 Grand SLAMM is not a product for everyone.

The X-1 is designed for one purpose: to reproduce sound with as much fidelity to the recorded source as current technology will allow. In order to achieve that goal in real-world conditions, a Wilson-trained technician will set up the speaker in your listening room or home theatre. The advanced Group Delay™ capabilities of the X-1 give the owner unprecedented control over actualizing the speaker's full potential in an adequately sized room.

The X-1 is designed to be an utterly neutral and transparent transducer. It is so revealing of its source components that several leading manufacturers of both solid-state and tube amplifiers use the X-1 as a listening reference in the design of their products.

The X-1 is unique in its startling ability to reproduce the true dynamic contrast and physical size of a musical event. A well-recorded drum kit, for example, will sound indistinguishable from the real thing, whereas every other loudspeaker will give you - to a greater or lesser degree - a dynamically compressed representation of that thing.

In order to create a large speaker without cabinet resonance, countless hours of research went into creating a proprietary material many times more rigid and sonically inert than anything on the market. Each X-1 driver is custom built to Wilson specifications and further modified at the factory. All driver assemblies undergo hours of critical testing to insure optimum performance. Every piece of hardware that goes into the construction of an X-1 exemplifies the total dedication to quality that underlies every Wilson product.

Wilson's patented Group Delay™ technology is a combination of proprietary crossover design and the ability to adjust individual drivers in the time domain. In the X-1, each driver module is precisely positioned during set-up to create a seamless coherency throughout the frequency range.

Finally, a paint process rivaled by only a few of the world's great carmakers imparts to every pair of X-1s a luster and beauty which will insure the value of your investment for years to come. Few products can claim the status of a true flagship. The X-1 Grand SLAMM is one that can.

Personally, I'd even be happy with the Aerial 5B speakers. However, $2,200 + $500 for the correct stands can still be a bit high for some budgets. :)

Get the 7b's and save that $500! :D (Ha, 10 large is more than this olde dawg will ever lay down on a pair o' sound makers. But they sure do sound purty.....)

Actually, Wilson's NEW flagship is the Alexandria X-2.

The shipping must be INSANE on those speakers, as the ship weight of the package is over a ton!
