DVE will let you level match, hence, you should do that beforehand, then set whatever THX mode you want.

THX is post-processing so I would think it would be better to calibrate first and then turn on THX if you want to use it. You probably won't use THX at all times so if you calibrate with it on, it may not sound right when it is off.
