I see so many, but there was even blogs about it. I figure it was, but I prefer to ask before going foward.

Do you know of anyway to get PPV, Movies on demand or cable TV just using a PC and not using cable TV providers hardware?

I don't want any hardware from like Time Warner, Dish Network, DirectTV or Uverse.

I already have Hulu and it is ok, but I want PPV and movies, but using my PC. :)

(Yea I guess I am a little old Skool on newer technology, lol)/

You can get over-the-air HD with a TV tuner card (either internal PCI or external USB) and an antenna. You can also get any channels that are broadcast in clearQAM by the cable/satellite company but you'll at least have to pay for basic service to get those.

This company: http://www.silicondust.com has an interesting solution that works with either an antenna or clearQAM and uses your home network so that any computer in the house that is on the network can watch TV. Their upcoming 'Prime' model is supposed to be able to tune digital and premium channels but apparently will require a CableCard from the cable company which will cost a few bucks per month to rent.

Yes, but it'll still require paying Cable company for these channels regular rates ... depends on the plan.
Cablecard will only replace DVR or regular cablebox and put it's function on your pc.
Some interesting opportunies do exist to save on cable bill, like you could get quad cablecard tuner and have multiroom DVR basically for price of regular content plus small fee for CableCard...

Keep in mind CC's are rather pain in the butt to setup and they made this way since cable companies have ZERO interest in them and only doing it since they required by law..

Yeah, cable card fees used to be only a couple of bucks per month, but I fear they have since wised up to all of the revenue losses from people opting for other solutions, whether Tivo, etc. I can't remember what the last figure I heard/read was, but I was quite surprised. I fear they are doing their best to make it less financially interesting to look towards other solutions, so that they can continue to overcharge for 10x-refurbished, 200w-consuming-while-still-off POS devices. Ok, yeah I might* be exaggerating a little.
