Looks like I should have included the smiley at the end of my post since some people seem to think that sarcasm is a four letter word. The shootout took place and will be posted once the article is written. With the Audioholics party, CEDIA, and a number of other behind the scenes activities it has fallen by the wayside.

Dave - the reference to the shootout was on AVRant. The people (most of them) involved in that thread read it first over there. At the time of many of the the AVRant comments, we were actually in the room, doing the shootout. No, I don't know when it will be published mostly because when it has to cross four people's desks, it is easy for things to be delayed. And I wasn't offended (gee, is it just me or was the alien abduction not ridiculous enough to convey that? ), I was just letting you and anyone that read your "it never happened" post know that there was in fact a shootout and that it will in fact be published. Someday. I hope.

Well I took offence, and I stand by what I said. Screw that, there is no need for anyone to be that rude toward's anyone, especially not an admin/moderator who is supposed to kill flames and trolls, not be one himself. That's hardly a good admin/moderator, that's just a pathetic power tripper with a high sense (apparently well deserved) of self inadequacy. JMO.

Anyway, I think this thread has run it's course and I may start another one (if I decide to even post at this place again, which is unlikely if this is the kind of crap I can expect: I'm on and have been on several forums and have never seen a moderator/admin ever attack anyone like that for such an innocent post, or even any post at all, that's total b.s.) to help me choose between my final budget bookshelf choices.

I thank you and everyone else who was helpful to me in this thread, and if I don't ttyl, then I wish everyone many more years of audio bliss.

PS: For anyone interested, on another forum there is a detailed bookshelf rating theard. It's purpose is not to pick a winner, but to blind group test several bookshelfs (in order to reduce brand preferences and expectations) and then report on which speakers had which strengths and weaknesses. The first post sums up the results of each speaker tested so far.

The problem with this ongoing thread from what I can see is that you do not know who the listeners are, their backgrounds, and if it is the same set of listeners for every blind test.

Also, as far as I have read, nobody that has participated in the blind tests has posted anything. Does that mean their thoughts are being interpreted and then catogorized?

I actually liked the look of my 340s, but the Sierras are stunning to me.
