Hi, I'm looking to get a pair of high quality speakers for a 2.1/5.1 setup in the future, but for now I think I should settle with something lower end to get me by.

I see on Craigslist someone selling a pair of Polk M50 speakers for $150. I will be connecting them to a Denton AVR -687 and using a Polk PSW10. Think these are a decent set to get me by? They'll be used in an apartment living room and used primarily for music, but for movies too. Worth getting?

No, I would pass

You can get some budget friendly, good higher quality Pioneer tower
speakers for around $200 - and they are good enough, to where you
may not want to upgrade in the future.

Ok, thanks for the recommendation. I"l probably go with them. Any tower speakers in this range that have a wood (color) finish? I prefer them over the black color
None that will beat the Pioneer.

Sounds like a ripoff. If I am not mistaken, that's about what they are selling for new...

I'll second the recommendation for the Pioneers. I just picked up a pair of the bookshelf speakers to try out and I was not disappointed. I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a better speaker for what these are selling for.

"High quality speakers" and low end Polk don't go together.
