USB-C on any receivers?

Unfortunately, this is the case concerning the USB-A ports of most receivers. They require an actual storage device supporting FAT 16/32. Connecting my iPhone to the USB-A ports of my receiver is good for nothing but charging the iPhone. If I want a wired connection from my iPhone to the receiver to play music stored in it or stream from services, it's going to be via an adapter to one of the receiver's analog, digital or HDMI ports. As was mentioned by @BoredSysAdmin, there are some units equipped with USB-B ports that can receive audio signals from connected devices rather than just read files from storage devices like the USB-A ports.

Seriously, I have no life.
My avrs recognize only mass storage device on the usb other than apple stuff. My phone isn't recognized in any case on the usb port (I tried before my post, too). Easier to just stream via wifi for Pandora and Spotify than use the phone/tablet/pc hardwired in any case.
What brand and model is it? All of the Denon and Yamaha AVRs I have installed recognize phones as soon as they connect.

I don' usually use this either, but it should work.

I have three denons (and tested on the newest one, a 4700) as well as an Onkyo that specify such in their manuals.....what Denon recognizes an android phone as a mass storage device natively?

My Onkyos and Yamaha will only support a FAT 16/32 storage device via USB connection.

I have an iPhone, but on the receivers I have installed, it shows up as Phone.

You should be able to cast to the Denon receivers by using the icon on the lower left of the music app.

I do cast generally, no need for hardwire. As I mentioned, Apple is enabled via usb port.....but not android.

Interesting- I don't know why that wouldn't work.

I just found this and is shows that older AVRs without HEOS support connecting through the USB port- Next time I go to the house where I just installed a Denon stereo receiver, I'll test it. I tried AirPlay this afternoon and that showed up on the display as 'HEOS'.

Couldn't tell you why Apple implementation is there but not Android but haven't had anything Apple in years, but they are clear in the manuals about those. My understanding is you can root an android phone to enable the mass storage device aspect for a phone, but haven't done that myself.
