Did you buy it from an authorized URC dealer? If you did buy from an authorized dealer and provide copies of your receipt as proof of purchase URC will sometimes give an end user the software. Dealers have the discretion to give the software to end users so they are usually the best bet. Can you return it and then go with an authorized dealer?
This is the big downfall buying these online if you do not do the research to find out if you can get the software. Also CCP is not a wizard based software like Harmony. If you don't have experience programming it can be a bit challenging.
I will say the 780 is a great remote although it lacks some customization on the graphics front in comparison to the 880 or 980. I have many URC remotes and can attest to their hardware quality and flexibility in programming.
