Want to replace my single 12" home made sub with two powered subs, would love some advice on what size subs I would need for a room 14x20x8 2240cu.ft Budget around $1000.00

Thanks in advance.

Are you able/ willing do go the diy route? if so, I just did 2 18" sealed for right around that price, and could not be happier.

For two subs for music, I would be looking at two Rythmik L12s or two EMP I-12s. For a single sub for music, I would be looking at either a Rythmik FVX15 or L22, Hsu ULS-15 mk2, VTF3 mk5, or VTF15h mk2, or a Reaction Gamma 15 or Echo 15.

However, by far the highest performance solution for $1k for two subs involves a bit of DIY: get two of these Dayton Reference HOs and knock-down cabinets, and get one of these iNuke3000s. Put that together, give it a nice finish, and that will have extremely low distortion and high dynamic range bass for your music. That is what I would do.

L22 would definitely be on my list as well.

DIY will often give you more bang for your buck, but also means doing a little work. Since your current is home built, you have a lot of potential benefit by going with a knockdown kit(s) as mentioned above or building the cabinet yourself if you have the ability to do that.
