Upgrade Speakers OR Pre Amp ?

I have an A/V Processor : McIntosh MX123 and Power Amp McIntosh MC255.
Speakers : Focal Electra 926
Upgrade thinking options For Stereo :
1. Upgrade to Focal Sopra 2
2. Adding a McIntosh Pre (?) to the present system
3. Leave as it is as the MX123 can play in Stereo mode also ....

The speakers would be the better route than the electronics....altho perhaps not those particular speakers.

I'm not very familiar with Focal's lineup. I just meant it might be a different speaker (or even different brand) that might be the best upgrade for you....

You aren't going to get any audible improvements upgrading those electronics.

Moving up to the Sopra's will give you more bass punch and the tonality should be similar to what you already have since it's the same brand.

yes. the sub is SVS... PB - 1000 PRO

Decent sub, altho depends on your room size and dual subs can help with room modes too. I really don't think electronics would be the way to go, maybe speakers/subs, tho

The electronics are trivial in affecting the sound of your system. The speakers, on the other hand are most of it. I can't recommend speakers I have never heard but I'm sure you can find something suitable to replace the speakers that aren't working for you.

If you are talking about the Sopra No.3, then definitely and absolutely! The Electra 926 is good but you can't compare the 926 with any Sopra speakers!!! The Supra No.3 is listed for >>$20,000 per pair (and presumably nice sounding if they sound similar to the models I heard years ago), they deserve your very nice preamp/pro/power amps.

The Sopra 3 isn't easy to drive but you MC255 should be capable of driving it unless you listen really loud and/or sit really far.
