Upgrade HSU STF-2 to used VTF-3 MK 3 ?

Hello all,

I currently have an STF-2 sub that has been with me for a few years now. It was my first "real" sub and for the budget I have zero complaints. Like most I eventually thought of upgrading. We also recently moved and now my living/listening room is one of those open floor plans that flows into the dining room and kitchen.

There is a local guy here selling a used VTF-3 Mk 3 without the turbo option. My question for you guys is would this sub be a good upgrade from the STF-2?

I also want to ask what is a fair price for this sub? I know it is an older model. The seller claims he has used it very little and he is asking $350. It is out of the 2 year warranty for the electronics.

I moved up from a STF2 to a VTF3 mk3. BIG difference. $350 isn't that bad of a price, I would go for it.

Thank you for the advice gents, much appreciated. I am going to take a look at the sub tomorrow and if the seller is telling the truth I will likely be coming home with it.

Go for it. I went from a VTF2 to VTF15, wasnt even close. I know the VTF3 is nice.

Sorry for the slow response. The seller turned out to be a great guy and was honest about the sub. It really is like new, so I purchased the sub and brought it home. Just the physical size of it alone is impressive compared to the STF-2. You gents were correct, it is a very noticeable difference in performance. I am quite happy with the purchase. I still need to run Audyssey to get it optimized, but this thing rocks. I will see if I can get a pic later.

Don't try to run the STF2 with the VTF3, I did and it doesn't work well. The STF2 can not keep up with the VTF3 at all.
