Hi everyone,
I currently have a system that consists of the following and would like to upgrade/update.

Pioneer DV535
Sony strdb930 for cntr. and rears
Rotel Rb981 130w x2 for fronts
Jamo e870 fronts
Jamo e8 surronds
Jamo e8 sub

The first thing I want to replace is the old Pio with a Denon 1920. Will this be a big step up pq/audio wise ? or should I be looking to get the next model up (2910 I think) to get better quality? I was going to get the Yamaha dvds675 but thought that the 1920 would be better for music.

Secondly I will be replacing the Sony with a better one and am leaning towards the Denon 2807. As the new receiver will only power the centre and rears is this overkill and could maybe get a lesser Denon or maybe someone could suggest something else. I like the idea of auto set-up that comes with the Denon and understand that Yamaha also have this function so I would like this option on any suggestions.

Third, when I do update the above the weak link would be the speaker package I presume. I like the Jamo's but think there is a lot more to be had musically and if so " I want some". I have listened to some Kef iQ9's and thought they sounded nice but some suggestions on what I could/should be going to have a listen to would help. I understand that ultimately it is up to MY ears but a push in the right direction would be appreciated.

As I live in Australia my budget is in AUD5-6k. I listen to music/HT about 50/50 but would sacrifice HT over music anytime. I hope the above makes some sort of sense as to what I'm trying to do and any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks (I've still got a lot to learn) Stato.

P.S. what does LOL mean????????????

WOOOHOOO!! another Aussie;) :D
Do you live in Melbourne? If so check out Clef Hi-Fi, I've found they are hard to beat for price and until the end of the month they have a 15-50% off stock-take sale, only thing is they don't sell Denon.

cheers:)

Psst, LOL means Laugh Out Loud;)

Hi MACCA350,
I live in Adelaide but will check out the site as I work for a transport co. I can sleep well tonight safe in the knowledge that I have learnt something today. LOL. And yes that was the strategy to get some end of financial year bargains if I could.
Thanks stato.

Welcome PORT and thanks. I have heard the Vaf before but was a while ago. They sounded real good from memory. I will go have another listen. Does anyone have an opinion on Denon players? will the 1920 suffice or should I hang out and get a 2910? will I notice a substantial difference in quality?
