Updating old bookshelf system.

I would like to update an 18 yr old, yes that’s right, bookshelf system that I use to listen to my TV and VCR recordings. I’m wearing older men’s clothes now so it’s not as easy as it used to be. I’m hoping I can use a Denon bookshelf system that has digital sound input from the TV and hopefully one that will run a Bluetooth headset. I would still like to use the VCR to operate the TV just improve the sound with hopefully a radio and CD function. Hope you Guru’s can help.

I have had good luck with using shelf systems with way better speakers. Most of them do not come with very good speakers. Peace and goodwill.

While I have speakers older than 18 years, the vcr went away long ago. How does the vcr operate the tv, tho? What speakers do you have? Sounds like an avr might work, altho with the vcr in mind might be an older avr that would be better for connectivity. What tv do you have? Does that mini Denon system that Treb posted work for you?
