Hi, I am new to the forums and need some help. I am in the process of updating my home theater system.

Uses:
25% Movies
25% Audio
25% Tv (mostly sporting events)
25% Xbox 360

Receiver: ($1000 Budget)
- Need at least 3 HDMI ports
- 7.1

I am leaning towards a HK avr 354 or the new onkyo 607 or 707. For speakers i am thinking about either klipsch or axiom but i am up for any suggestions.

Thaks for the help in advance

For speakers have u considered Aperion? GREAT CS! free in home trial for 30 days... u don't like them; you can send them back free! In addition; they have an upgrade program as well. Check them out www.aperionaudio.com
Good Luck

Choose your speakers first and plan to spend 70% of your budget there. Once you've made a decision, you can worry about the receiver. What's your total budget?

Can you give us a little more info on what your are considering? Do you plan on floor standing speakers or bookshelf? Which models for each brand? What is your budget for speakers? Room size would help also.

I am planning on floor standing in the front. i'm just going to do 5.1 for now. for the speakers i was thinking 1500 - 2000 and for the receiver under a 1000. I took a listen to a hk avr354 and some klipsch speakers and i liked that setup that's why i was leaning towards them or axiom which i've heard are similar. hope that clears it up.

Hi,

I like what you just said in your post: "I took a listen to a hk354 and some klipsch speakers and i like that setup that's why i was leaning towards them or ..."

You are on your way, you now have a foundation that you can use for comparing other systems. Just keep doing that, listen to other systems, a lot of them, as many as you can; you'll gain tremendous experience, by accomodating your ears to a certain level of satisfaction; and you'll be able to pick the system you prefer the most, more easily, and with your own firm conviction, from your own listening experience. What more than this is there?

I'm happy to see you here at Audioholics, and wish you a very warm welcome. :)

Cheers,
Bob
