Upconversion - Denon

Hi,

I am considering buying the Denon 1905 and 2105.

The "feature" I am most interested in is the "upconversion" from composite and svideo to component. I want to simplify my cabling by having only one line into my projector from the receiver.

Does anyone have either of these models and can comment on the upconversion? Is the picture any worse after conversion, etc.?

Thanks,
Mark

I have the 3805 but I believe they all do the same thing. They don't do anything to the image, no scaling or deinterlacing. Rather they allow composite, s-video, and component inputs to be "upconverted" so they may be passed along the component output to your TV. I use mine for switching HD, DVD, PS2, and composite video and it works terrific. I can detect no loss in picture quality and it makes it easy for all family members to switch between different inputs. :)

I installed the 2805 last week. Tonight I watched a VHS tape recorded earlier today for the first time (my PVR was busy), and a VHS tape looks like a VHS tape. Don't expect miracles. It allows you seamless switching of different inputs, composite, S-video and component into one set of component cables to the TV. Just don't sell yourself short on a unit with less inputs. It's so easy to fill up the back of your receiver these days, especially digital inputs.
