Unraveling of America? Is the decline of our "empire" a given at this point?

Seriously, I have no life.
"It is what it is" is a direct quote from Trump about the hundreds of thousands of dead folks he doesn't feel in any way responsible for.
'It is what it is' is a phrase that should be stricken from the English language.

Karma- it's not for the squeamish.

  • On September 11, 2020, Utah Senator Mike Lee wrote a letter to Netflix, writing, in part, “My staff is reviewing the film and the pertinent law to determine whether to refer the presentation of this film to the United States Attorney General for investigation. It would be most helpful if you could provide my office with an explanation on your views as to whether or not the potential exploitation of minors in this film constitutes criminal behavior by Friday, September 18, 2020.”

  • On September 12, 2020, Texas Senator Ted Cruz called for the D.O.J. to investigate Netflix. In a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, Cruz wrote, “As you know, the Department of Justice has a significant role in preventing the sexual abuse of children. The Department enforces federal criminal law making it a serious crime to produce or distribute material involving the sexual exploitation of minors, including the filming of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. See, e.g., 18 U.S.C. §§ 2251, 2252. By investigating and prosecuting offenders who possess and distribute images and video sexually depicting minors, the Department both obtains justice for those who have been abused and helps protect children from future sexual abuse and exploitation.”

  • On September 12, 2020, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton tweeted, “Like any parent, I find @netflix decision to peddle child pornography disgusting. And it’s criminal. @TheJusticeDept should take swift action.”

  • Also, on September 18, 2020, thirty-four members of Congress sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, requesting he press charges against Netflix. The letter reads, in part, “We’re writing to recommend you bring charges against Netflix, Inc, for the distribution of the film Cuties, which contains child pornography. As defined by 18 §§ U.S.C. 2256, “child pornography is any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor, and that conduct does not need to specifically depict sexual activity to qualify.”

Well that decides it for me. I have no desire whatsoever to see this film or ever watching it.

I find it disgusting but this is censorship, plain & simple.

They should be looking into their own houses, instead of meddling into others. The Republicans teaching morals. Ha! That's rich.

What a bunch of hypocrites. Such a corrupt group to throw stones....especially with their leader having supported Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell....and said leader hiring the asshole prosecutor that let them off as a reward and their general acceptance of that.

I'm perplexed as to why just this movie have the G.O.P. in moral panic mode: The director of the movie (a female that is not white) stated intention of her work is opposite to what you quote.

Distraction, deflection, pandering to their base ... should I keep going?

The same people who told us rock n' roll would make all of us Satanists and devil worshipers.

They're desperate to back up their claims that this administration is tough on child porn..... the movie includes things that happened to the director and girls she interviewed involved in the making of the movie....the movie will be more effective than any republican could hope to be with their phoney "moralizing". Next thing you know the republicans will want censorship of journalists....oh wait, they already are. Republicans and morals these days are a joke.

But Trump is credibly quoted to say that his daughter (which one? The child at the time) is "hot".

With everything that's going on nowadays, I fell like I've been transported back to the 60's in my Wayback machine.

I would multi quote everybody but I’m not gonna put that much effort into it. Obviously we live in a very sick world but if we can get politicians to pander then we’ll take that as a small victory. Yes I would love to see Netflix stand in front of Congress and take a small beating.

As to the issue of Freedom of Speech, the Left has no issue encroaching on other freedoms so don’t get your pantries in a bunch.

There were over 100 people who were the real life victims of this movie who asked it not be made. One of the mothers of the victims has been convicted of child sex trafficking.

Lastly there is currently a huge quiet push to and a child sex trafficking in America and abroad. Myself and members of my family are involved in it and I personally know other people who are taking it even more direct action approach to end child sex trafficking.

Compared to Republicans? Not by much but yeah I am.

It's one of the main reasons I want a third party in this country. I feel like a broken record, The system is broken!

Some of you live in a Republican end-of-life fantasy, the rest of us, not so much.

Well, how about Google etc that just was in front of Congress? Does that count?
