Recently my father in law just received some speakers and amps for free and wants me to set them up for him. They are a little out of my league. He received two CIaudio d100 amps and volume control. The speakers we are unsure about, they have no markings on them and we are unsure if they are custom or not.

Will we need a special receiver to hook up the amps?

We also want to make sure everything is compatible I'm assuming the amps and speakers are given they came together. Here is the best picture of the speakers and sub I could get. Does anyone recognize the brand or know what they possibly could be?

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the board. Is this what you are talking about?

I don't know what you mean about Volume Control. I assume it's a Pre-Amp. Please provide all details you have so we can assist. ;)

Your speaker photos really are too close to show much of anything, and the best option is to look at the rear where they connect to the speaker cables, and / or see if you can remove the Grills to find out something there. There could easily be a Plate Amplifier on the rear of the Subwoofer which should have some info on it.

Your first post said: "He received two CIaudio d100 amps and volume control"

I don't know what you mean about Volume Control. Is there another component? If so I assume it's a Pre-Amp. These Amps need a Pre-Amp to supply a controlled signal to them, so they can amplify it and send that onto the speakers.

Please provide all details you have so we can assist. ;)

Sorry about that I was up in the mountains with limited signal and wouldn't upload.

Yes those are the amps, not sure what type of speakers these are though.

Thank you everyone for the help.
Pictures of stuff wrapped up in plastic doesn't help much. You could be posting pics of a mini fridge and it'd look the same! :p

I'll piggy back Jim and ask for more info.

Speakers kind of remind me of some of the Vandersteens that I have seen. But, I'm not so sure that's what they are.

Crappy pics = crappy advice
