So I have been in sales for my entire adult life, and I have followed a rule of always being honest with the customer. Here’s what I have against the hi-fi world and sales. They are blatantly fucking lying to customers and they know it. There’s a high-end audio store that I love to go into because they have great products, but they are unabashed horrible liars trying to upsell people on bullshit they don’t need. I go in there all the time, look at their stuff and then buy it elsewhere just because of how horrible they are. Not a single motherfucking salesman that works there can afford to buy the bullshit they sell and yet they tell everyone that walks in the door they need to spend more money to get satisfaction.
I will be 100% honest, I’ve had lots of wealthy clients in my life and they ask me if this is something they need. I look them dead in the face and tell them hell no, you don’t need it but you have the money and it’s pretty fucking cool so why don’t you buy it anyway. I’ve had numerous occasions where they pull out the checkbook. If I’m selling something completely unnecessary and ridiculously expensive and I tell the client that they have absolutely no reason to buy it other than the fact that they can and they do, I go to sleep at night very well.
my problem with the hi-fi world is sales people telling people they absolutely have to buy poop. They can’t afford that adds absolutely zero value to the music they’re listening to. This is fucking criminal and people should be charged and yes, I’m drinking.
