I must have tired you terrific folks by now. The issue is my cousin came to know I bought Paradigm Cinema 110 and right now (just 50 seconds) back went to A4L and bought Onkyo TX606. I'll definitely give a write-up once I receive the receiver and set everything up. This same cousin offered me his Behringer Tube Ultrafex T1954 .. but I really can't figure out whether I can fit it (whatever it is) into my FIRST HT system, whether it is worth it and anyways - what on Earth is it? Any lead -- folks? I need to pay for shipping and do for him a small task here in NY -- all for about $35. He also suggested something called a "feedback destroyer" ... same company ... said it's useful for sub-woofer. If my understanding is correct isn't feedback destroyer used for something completely different. He didn't say if that was free or not, though. Finally, he stated "I don't know if Onkyo TX606 offers configurable crossover opportunities, if not - I've a used Behringer cross-over unit too" ... PLEASE, PLEASE ----> I know English but this sounds truly Greek!

They work David, and Brett Dimichelle has played around with one. Where they appear to differ from say a tube amp (and I'm speaking in generalities) is that most tube amps have minimimal or no feedback. This tends to increase the output impedance of the unit such that it affects the FR of the amp as a function of the impedance curve of your speakers. Make sense? This unit, or ones similar to it, sit between the amp and preamp and you basically don't have this FR shaping altough you do get the 'warmth' or whatever word you want to apply here.

If you're considering investingating it David, I'd recommend that you head on down to a pro shop like Guitar Center (they're all over the US) as they discount heavily (bargain my good man!), have a fair money back return policy, can provide some pros and cons on the various ones from Behringer, maybe can turn you on to other manufacturers.
