Adam, you wouldn't happen to know where I could find an owners manual to these? I don't know what series they are exactly SDA IIA or IIB.

Matt, I just started searching and found a thread on another forum in which someone suggested contacting Polk for the manual and troubleshooting guide. The OP reported that Polk provided them. That thread also linked to this history of the SDA II.

I'll look around a bit more.

Ha! :D

Too bad that you didn't win this auction (still ongoing). It's (a) in Arizona and (b) has the original manuals. :)

Try this link from Polk (I just went to their support page and searched for manuals under "SDA").

The title mentions the 2B version.

Adam - the master of the manual...................:D
My consolation for not having a girlfriend.

Wow. That sounds almost as pathetic as I am. :( ;) :) :p

Oh, yeah. Master of the mood swing, too. :D

[J/K! I don't need an intervention...]

Just a word of caution. Be careful what amp you pair them with. They need a common ground amp, or bad things will happen. I think there's an alternate interconnect cable or some interface box you can use if your amp isn't. Once you find out exactly what series they are, I would contact Polk & try to get some clarification.

Nice pick up Matt, quick question though how come they sell the polk m50 floorstanders for less than 100 bucks a pair are they just not so great or what they look nice however I have never heard or seen in person just seems really inexpensive to me. I almost bought em but thought it best to ask you guys first.

Polk's monitor line is there low level consumer line of speakers. As such I probably won't expect much out of them.

I had a pair of Polk Monitor 5 jr.'s until a few months ago. They were given to me by a friend and I hooked them up with my DefTech setup to see how they would compare. They blended beautifully with them (considering Matthew Polk used to work for DefTech and based his early speakers on DefTech designs. I had no doubt they would blend. Mine had the 1" tweets, and 6.5" mid range and 6.5" passive radiator and the sound they belted out was incrdeible for a 20 year old speaker (and the drivers were still in great shape even after my buddy used them through high school and college. I wound up selling them to a co-worker who gave them to his son and he said he was very surprised at how loud and clean those bookshelves could get. You have the tower version and they should sound fantastic for what you paid for em. The cool thing is if you join ClubPolk, you can get replacement parts for their older gear at great prices. Yes even parts for speakers that old.

Nice, I've seen some 7b and 10 on Craigslist that I've almost picked up but I held out for these SDA.

Matt, my best friends dad, has a pair of the SDS-SRS tower speakers. These Polks have 1-15" passive radiator, 8 - 6.5" mid range drivers and 4 - 1" tweets in each speaker. They stand 6 feet tall and are so heavy they have a retaining bolt that has to be anchored into a stud to keep it stable. Without a sub, this speaker pumps out enough bass that you clearly don't even need one (I have yet to hear a speaker besides this one where that applies (this includes the DefTech tower series) BTW my buddies dad uses these speakers so rarely, that I am positive that even after 20 years that they have less than 1,000 hours of use on em. He has them in his main HT room and he uses that about 5 times a year. I have pleaded with him to sell me the speakers and he has told me upon his death, he will leave them to me, knowing that I would be one person to make the most out of em. Now I never wish ill will on anyone, but in this case...well you know. ;)
