Type of floor and sound transmission

I discovered that the apartment into which we are moving (interior work still going on) has solid concrete floors rather than floorboards. Overlaid with laminate flooring. Not sure if this is good or bad in terms of sounds from Hi-fi equipment getting through to the apartment below. Can anyone help?

Generally that type of construction is as good as it gets for apartment living as far as insulation of sound from your neighbors (or at least the one below you), should beat hell out of thin wood flooring....but what about the walls?

Thanks. Walls are not a problem. It is a penthouse and there are no immediate neighbours on the same floor. The lounge wall backs onto a large end corridor that is not used for passing through and then there is the stairwell and lift shaft.

The master bedroom backs onto its own en suite facility. But directly underneath is another flat's bedroom.

Throw down a big area rug so if and when the neighbors complain, you can tell them you've done all you can!

Seriously though, it sounds like you've got good quality construction. Short of playing at levels that will damage your own hearing, I think you will be able to enjoy Home Theater, without upsetting the neighbors. Being mindful of their schedule would help too, but it seems like you're already focused on being a considerate neighbor!
