i am about to buy a projector & am wondering how to hook it up to my receiver. i have a 65 inch mitsubishi tv (ws65313) which i watch normal tv on but want to put in a projector w/ an electric screen that drops down in front of the normal tv for movies. i have a denon 3805 receiver which only has 1 component output. i am using component outputs for video to my mitsubishi. do i have to buy the denon 3806 to get 2 pairs of component outputs? (projector will prob b Panasonic PT-AE900U)

I recently ran into the same problem while trying to run both a projector and TV. You will either have to run S-video to the TV and component to the projector or get the 3806.

BTW-Good choice on the projector!

awesome thanks, i was thinking of that but was afraid it would cut the signal, but since its digital & not analog it doesnt matter right?

Is that a new digital projector? Maybe you want a new DVD player with HDMI output going to the projector and component to the TV.

Video, if it is composite, s-video, or component is all analog.

Only HDMI and DVI are digital connections which won't have signal loss.

But, a distribution amplifier is specifically designed to split and increase the signal through the box. It isn't a passive unit, but actively increases the signal going through it to maintain maximum quality. So, you plug it into the wall to make it work, not at all like a simple splitter which does cause a drop in the signal output.

If you are pushing towards HDMI then there are also HDMI or DVI distribution amplifiers available as well.
