You may ship the table to my address and I will ship to you via USPS which should relieve you of the crazy brokerage fees you can be subject to with UPS delivery from USA to Canada.. I will charge you $20 USD for the service + actual USPS shipping fees. If interested, you may PM me. I can not promise fast service. It will take between 2-4 days for me to get it to a USPS office plus whatever shipping times they take + the original shipping time that the retailer takes to deliver the unit. Overall round trip time will be between 10-16 days to you after payment, is my estimate. Although USPS says it could take much longer via ground. If you choose an express method, it is guaranteed to arrive much sooner according to USPS. Go toand estimate international shipping from me at zipcode 24563 to your address in Canada. Be sure to add signature delivery and insurance to the shipping fees. The package will weigh around 30-35 lbs. The Technics is heavy and it will have considerable packaging to protect it. I am not going to try the table to make sure it works properly: this would require considerable more time for me to properly analyze/verify performance - but I'll open the package if you desire to verify no visible damage before shipping to you. Also remember, you need a high quality cartridge for the product. If you want an extremely well performing cartridge for a reasonable price, I recommend the Denon DL-110, which should be available to you directly in Canada. It measures very well and it's build quality/stylus quality is substantially superior to most items anywhere near it's price range. Stylus experts claim it's stylus is of the quality you expect on units costing far more. Measurements back up this claim. It is mostly neutral; with some slight treble attenuation (-2dB at 10Khz and a slow gradual attenuation there after) and a slight mid-bass and bass rise of 1-2dB over-all. This will make the cartridge slightly more neutral/natural on much recorded music. Distortion is extremely low, with a superb harmonic spectrum profile. Cartridge is easy to set up to get superb inner groove performance with no audible distortion(where as many cheaper carts have problems with the inner grooves). Tracking is excellent and noise floor is extremely low on this cartridge, as it's high grade diamond is of smaller profile than typical ones, thereby allowing the needle to read the less worn grooves on many used records.
In the future, you should consider replacing the arm. The table itself and cartridge I recommend are excellent. The limiting factor is the overly resonant arm on the table. The arm is not a permanent fixture. It was designed to be replaced with superior units. Technics even used to sell the SL-1200MKII without an arm a long time ago so that people could choose their own arm. Technics knows the arm is limited - and used to offer extremely high quality arms in the past - but they discontinued them due to reduced sales when vinyl fell out of favor in the late 80's.
