The physical location of the electronics is irrelevant. It is still intended to be a fully integrated solution. An FA rep (I can't remember his name) told you that in another thread.
It is 100% relevant. It means anyone can buy an outboard amp/EQ/DSP unit for any unpowered sub. It means anyone can have the same or better Sub EQ/DSP when they buy a passive sub. They don't need to buy an active sub to get great EQ/DSP.
With all due respect, ADTG, you also thought your system was amazing before your engaged Dynamic EQ. Unless you do some measuring you really don't know what you're listening to....I wish I had access to an Audyssey component in my system, just so I could measure the results...
I don't need measurements to tell me what sounds great or what sounds better, do you? My brain can tell me that just fine just by listening and comparing.
Measurements may or may not confirm what I perceive as better or worse. But I don't need some measurements to know what sounds better.
But I will clarify by saying that the bass sounds a lot better.
There are 2 things I care about in SQ - crystal clear sound + punchy tight bass. Audyssey or EQ does NOT improve the crystal clear sound to me. It's already crystal clear w/o room correction or EQ. But the bass has improved astronomically. So when I say "better", I am referring to the subwoofer bass.
