Just said goodbye yesterday to some of our dear Canadian friends as they headed back home to Ottawa. We assured them that not all Americans are 'Trumpers' ! The exchange rate makes it quite expensive for them down here, fewest number I've seen in Florida in years

Not just the exchange rate.... lots of Canadians have cancelled US Visits, in fact tourists/visitors from all over the world are cancelling their US vacations and rebooking elsewhere....
The Trumpian crazies in customs/immigration are causing well documented issues even with people intending merely to pass through....

In the past I used "round the world" airfares to travel to Europe via the USA (from / to Australia) - but if I was to do that today, I would look at something that goes via Canada or South America!

Ah, I posted this in the Trade Wars thread. Maybe I should have posted it here instead.

The more I think about this video, the more I think that Canada could be the saviour of the U.S. We might have Conservative and Liberal parties, but even the Conservative party is considerably left of the Republican party. We are a socialist country after all. You may find some hard right supporters in Alberta and in rural areas, but many Conservatives, in my view, lean more towards the Democratic party. Trump might be envious of the economic engine that is Southwestern Ontario, but the Greater Toronto Area has a large number of immigrants and they would never vote Republican.

If you divide the largest (geographically) provinces, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario & Quebec, in half, you end up with 19 states added to the union. You'd be lucky to have more than 3 vote Republican. Even under the electoral college system, it's possible that the GoP could never see a majority again. If you think the Dems had a woke agenda, you ain't seen nothin' until you add 40 million socialists to the mix!

All it would take is offer $1,000,000 to each and every Canadian. For the measly sum of $40 trillion dollars we can join up and then take over. You can make the cheque out to me personally, thank you.
