Trouble with Yamaha YHT-195 speakers

Hello, I just purchased a new home theater system, Yamaha YHT-195 and I'm having some serious issues getting the subwoofer and 2 surround speakers that came with it to work, the center speaker plays fine, as well as the 2 front speakers but the sub and surround speakers will not work at all, I'm pretty sure I have all the connections set up properly but I can only get those 3 speakers working. I have the system hooked up to a Sony Bravia 40' LCD. I'm pretty new to home stereos and any help would be great, thanks in advance

Try setting a dsp mode to "all channel stereo" or something similar to that, just to see if they are working. It could be the material you are watching isn't really "using" the surrounds that much, ie, there just isn't an audio signal that needs them (most tv shows).

As for the sub, check the xover point on the receivers menu. Perhaps it is set too low for the sub to get much action.

Also, try turning up the gain on the sub, it may be turned down too low for it to be heard over the other speakers.

Just some thoughts...I couldn't find the actual manual in a quick search.

Tried doing that but pretty much the system isnt letting me do much of anything until I run the auto setup which requires me to initalize the optimizer mic but everytime I try to do that the recevier tells me the enviroment is to noisy for the mic no matter where I place it
