Trouble with Yamaha Remote RAV228

The small display screen on my Yamaha RAV228 remote isn't working. It lights up but no text appears to help guide any control efforts. Do I need a new remote or can this problem be somehow fixed? I already replaced the batteries.

It sounds like new remote time to me.

That's a pretty old remote. You can get a replacement for probably 1/3 the price it would cost to have it fixed, even if you could find a shop that does that, and if there are parts available for it.

The screen going out, is not a bi issue, as you can see it on your TV screen and the receiver display.

The original is not available but there are other remotes

I have replaced two Marantz remotes now with Rediremotes from remotes.com. This is the one you need.

They do not have a screen. However they have a really solid feel and are well made. They actually perform better than the originals, and are excellent value.
