With ATB, I like some of the tracks, but the newer stuff just was a bit too much of the same thing. I like about half of the first album and it was original at the time, but he reused that odd sound (9am) a bit too much. Tiesto's own material is a bit soft, though I like some of the tracks from both albums. I have to be in the mood though.

I like som of Harry the Bastard's compliations. They have a nice flavor to them.

I am a fan of Drum and Bass, though it is not always so easy to find.

ATB is one of those DJs you're not sure if you like him or not.

It's like when you want to sneeze and it goes away just before it happens. Very frustrating.

There are a bunch of DnB forums out there that post the myriad of mixes, from bedroom DJs to the big ones. Also, check out Fabio & Grooverider every week man, BBC lets you listen to the replay for free or you can catch it on channel 11 on Sirius...http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/fabioandgrooverider/ .. click "Listen to the Show"

I'm uploading some mixes to my shell account now for you guys. A fresh Plastician mix... it's kind of a dubstep/grime hybrid like he tends to do now (if you like DnB, you'll probably really like this)... but also a deep dubstep mix that is MIND BLOWING. A must listen. It'll take a while to upload though, damn you Comcast. ;)

I received my 2nd techno purchase today Paul van Dyk The Politics of Dancing 2, I like it.

Everyone has stared into their computer while listening to something where the kaleidoscope thingie plays on windows media player, I wonder if there is a similar gizmo you could hook to your tv that would pick up on your music and display changing, shifting, pulsing patterns?

I noticed the low frequency thump I "feel" when playing the techno stuff is noticeably behind the higher frequencies I "hear" in the music, I guess maybe the sub takes an extra moment to push those waves at me?

hmm, moving the phase switch to 180 seems to have cleaned up the delay, that seems odd to me since the sub is connected to the receiver with an rca cable, not binding posts where I could get the wires backwards.

On Paul van Dyk The Politics of Dancing 2 Disk 1 track 5 he does that train in the tube sound from Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon :)

Sometimes when I am driving long distance I will find a trance or dance station on xm radio, pop an ephedrine, drink a rock star, and speed my way down the interstate at 3am, I would like to know what is the best of the best of that category so I can try it on the home system :)
I can highly reccomend Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen, Shpongle, The Infinity Project. All excellent trance/psy ambient in my opinion.

Great suggestions...you guys really gave me some good new artists to listen to. I've always liked Daft Punk, Justice, Digitalism and others...But they don't neccessarily qualify as house. If you havn't listened to them, I highly reccomend it, I'm sure everyone has heard some Daft Punk.

Anyways, since I enjoy listening to it so much, how would one go about making their own music. I'm really interested in know how to get started in doing all this cool stuff.

Djiah! That album is a '98 classic!!! It still holds some of the coolest beats ever! 10 years old and still thumpin'!

Anyone ever see a dvd that explains how the heck they go about making techno? I guess one would start with a drum machine, keyboard connected to a midi port on a pc sound card and some sort of software.

My current listenings revolve around Vocal trance, and Drum'n'bass (High instramental w/deep base lines). I follow A State of Trance, and love the radio show, new episode every week, 2 hours of trance! If you have I-tunes they have some nice streaming Radio stations, AH.fm is wicked for alot of new Vocal Trance/Trance/Progressive stuff, then if you're into Drum'n'Bass check out Bassdrive and Bassjunkies. I tend to flip between the two depending on what type of stuff they're playing.
