Tower speakers on hardwood

I ordered a pair of the EMP Impression tower speakers and they only come with carpet spikes. Is it better to use the carpet spikes on hardwood floors, use nothing, or seek some other solution?

Thanks in advance!

Best is to buy rubber feet. I would suspect a hardware store (and likely Walmart, and certainly a woodworking store) would have them. I would avoid spikes on hardwood as it will damage the floor.

For a cheap / quick patch: plot a small mat under each speaker. this will prevent skuffing of the speaker bottom or floor until you can find feet (note: do not use the spikes on the mat, they will go through to the floor).

I have the E5Ti speakers and they're currently just sitting on my hardwood with nothing in between. I need to put pads on...will probably use left overs pads for the bottom of dining room chairs feet.

Hope you enjoy the speakers!

I took the douche route as well and just threw the spikes on the bare hardwood.....what do I care, I'm renting. (j/k) :)

I didn't even think about the furniture felt pads. Thanks! I just wanted something to keep them from possibly vibrating on the floor.

I use pennies as well! What the heck, they're only 1/24th the price! :D

Rubber pads

My B.I.C. DV64s came with self-adhesive rubber pads by 3M. I never have any issues with rattling or unwanted vibration. This might be a bit more of an elegant solution than pennies and spikes.

My Spikes came with a small disc with an indentation to accept the point of the spike and the bottoms of the discs had felt, They are cool but a pain in the arse if you try to move a speaker when you are alone,
For my Kappas I just went to Home Cheapo and bought these felt pads with rubber in the middle they work OK , some day I will get some Great Grammas for the subs.

I've got my towers sitting on hardwood and just threw some felt sticky-pads underneath. The glide very smoothly if I need to move things around.
Total cost was under $5 to outfit speakers and entertainment center. I haven't had any come unglued.

No, you're right -- a careless typo on my part! :)

Then again, that's how it is in Canada: always overpaying for everything!

cheers,
