i feel that he deserves whatever he gets. bottom line and i apologize for the different opinion, but professional players of all sports get paid better than the average man and are 100% responsible for what is in their bodies. i dont care if someone hid something in a drink or a massage therapist rubbed cream on him. all players are told of the dangers and reprocussions. so end result is that it is his fault simply for not being more careful.

I will never get it... I've been riding freestyle for 20+ years now and coming in from an 'alternative' sport I find the aboriginal level of most people about sports to be ludicrous most of the time.

In this world, there are almost no atheletes that ever make it to a level where they are professional. The percentage is less than 1 in 1,000 and those at the top of the game are 1 in 100,000 or less. It is staggerring how few people ever are able to make any sort of living off of pro sports despite all the people who play sports as kids.

AS KIDS

My boss is a huge basketball fan, he's really into it. I asked him how often he played, and he gave me a funny look. So, how is it that as adults you forget that to actually be 'into' a sport you are supposed to PARTICIPATE. Not go and watch, but get off your butt and actually take part in the sport that you have an interest in.

I have my own opinions on what I consider real 'sport' but I will keep them to myself. I will say that regardless of my opinion, if my kids may choose to follow any sport they want with my full encouragement. Not just me going 'okay, have fun' but me actually driving them to events, being there, and supporting them when they aren't just 5 and 10 years old - but 15 and 17 year olds as well.

Still riding - and not using drugs to get there...

Flat land? Cool! Looks very difficult.

I chose the super easy trials riding  Still can't pedal kick up anything bigger then a curb.

It's fun... Remember, sports = fun, not exercise. :)

I used to... I actually was ranked second nationally at the pro level 15 years ago. I toured and had some sponsors, etc. But, I rode 3+ hours every day and had the time for it. I can tell you, #2 got me about $2K a year in a sport that had no major backing... and still doesn't. Now, I go to contests and hit it from the media side: www.bmxtrix.com When I started that site if you Googled the term 'bmxtrix' you got a total of ZERO hits. Now it's like 13,000 or something like that.
Since this was the first AV Forum I joined it's the only one that I have my old monicker on (BMXTRIX). All AV forums I go to I use AV_Integrated now since I am doing a small company with that name (see my signature). So, on other forums it's all AV, but I still have lots of tie ins to bmx and am going to South Carolina this weekend to cover a contest.

As I said: Fun.

Google was incepted in 1998, so of course one would get zero hits 15 years ago. Makes me feel like a dinosaur in a way.

All kidding aside, your positive attitude towards drug-free and fun sports will be a good influence on your children...and others as well.

:) - I didn't feel the need to put in Yahoo, Altavista, etc. When I got the url bmxtrix.com I was able to register it with EVERY search engine directly and for free. I don't think things work that way anymore.

Google: bmxtrix - about 13,500 results returned Sweet!
