I'm thinking about adding a sub strictly for my two channel listening. These two have peeked my interest. Any thoughts or experience with either of these two? Feel free to chime in & offer your opinions on what subs you would recommend. It's key for me to keep the heighth of the sub under 19"

Sorry, not quite useful exactly, but I can say I'm in love with My ML Descent in the HT/"big" music room. As able I'm planning on building a better 2-channel system, and am planning on including the Depth i in the upgrades. I'm sure you'd lack nothing important if you went with it.

The Depth is a 3 driver iirc. My parents have the depth and it's an excellent sub. I'd suspect it's a better bang for your buck than the Totem.

Isn't the Depth almost double the price? Bang for Buck?

Yes, the Depth is double the cost of the Storm. You really have to wonder if the performance is 2x better???? The Storm is also a 3 driver design, 1 active & 2 passive 8" drivers. I'm still doing my homework.

Does it have to be 19" high?

22" will not work?

Size: Approx. 27” D x 20.5 " W x 22" H (w/o grill)

What model is that, it's a monster. I really want to stick to max 19" due to placement issues. I know that narrows down my choices but that's what I've got to work with. Maybe two of the Storm's for the price of one Depth might just be the ticket!!

Woops, I was thinking the Storm was a lot more expensive than it is.

My bad :(

The Storm has only one active driver and two passive though, unlike the Depth where all three drivers are powered.

It's not a Monster (Well only if you want it to be). And it's priced in between both the Depth i and Storm. $1499-$1599

It's the SVS (Yes Gus, I said it) PB13-Ultra. A subwoofer that has been compared in performance to the JL Audio Fathom F113 $3,300 (Black Gloss); $3,200 (Black Satin).

From that I understand, and from what forum members will testify to this subwoofer is accurate, and tight. An all round excellent performer with music and movies.

And I would put 1 Ultra up against 2 Storms or Depth i's any day including Sunday. :D IMO I would find those extra 3".

I was actually just about to buy the Ultra when a local guy put a Depth up for sale for the same price as the Ultra in oak shipped. I haven't doubted my purchase once yet, although I'd still like to hear an Ultra. It's a smallish room, so more output isn't an issue at all, and the sound is all I could need. The design is great too, just to have something that isn't a box.

I think the main difference in performance between the Depth and Descent is output/power, going from specs - the Descent only goes 2 hz deeper, just has more amplifier...

Why does every subwoofer thread on this board have to degenerate into a shove an SVS down your throat thread?

What one post about SVS on this thread is "Shove Down your Throat"?

And to point out to someone that they can gain performance advantages for the same, if not less cash is a bad thing?

It's okay if you do it just once, or twice, or three times.

But when you do the same thing in HUNDREDS of threads on this board (yeah, do a search), it gets pathological.

And what positive contributions do you contribute to these boards?

I speak from personal knowledge, and experience with the product.
