I'm a total newbie at the whole HT world but I did just recently purchase a Mitsubishi WS-48413 rear projection TV. I did a fair amount of research and decided that Mitsubishi seemed like a safe bet for rear projection.

I ended up catching the 48413 on sale for $995 at Myer-Emco here in the DC area so I couldn't pass that up! That does seem like a good price doesn't it? It wasn't even a floor/demo model, it was totally new, in the box.

I live in a small 2 bedroom apt which has a 13x18 living room area. The 48" TV seems just big enough, without being too big, for that viewing area. The picture quality to me seems amazing, especially for the price! I went with rear projection because it appeared to be the best "bang for the buck" as far as picture quality vs. price.

Since I do live in an apartment, I ended up going with a HTIB from Pioner(HTD-540DV model). Again, since I've never been into HT before this inexpensive($349) setup seemed to be more than adequate, especially for an apartment. At "100w" per channel, it sounds incredible to me! :) I think I've watched more DVD's the last month, than I had in my whole entire life!

I do have one question in regards to the TV. I did some searching on the site, but couldn't seem to find out whether or not it makes any sense to take off the Diamond Shield protector screen. I've heard that it makes the picture quality nicer, and brighter? Does anybody have any experience with this? I didn't want to mess with it unless it seemed to really help.

Also, any othe suggestions, or tips, as far as changing any particular settings on the TV to help with picture quality, etc? Again, I'm a newbie so I'm just anxious to learn!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and/or comments!
