im really new to all this. i dont have a great tv set to want to get a great home theater system, so for now im working on making my computer sound good. i have been looking around for a while at some system ranging from 2 speaker to 5.1. i dont want to end up buying some lame system at best buy but i dont really know what is out there. thats why i am here.

so after some research i have come down to a few speakers but i cant figure out which one is better. this is where you guys come in.

okay. so im going to just throw out a few speakers that i think are good, and hopefully you guys can give me your personal input and help me choose:

Clarify this one. You didn't like them after hearing 'em or you don't like them because Best Buy sells them?
Also, if you're not a big fan of them, why put them in your list?

Listen to them all, if you can and then buy. Everyone has different tastes...

i meant that after i heard the klipsch speakers, i didnt like them. i felt like they would make a constant hiss sound, particularly when turned up past half way. but i still put them up there because i imagine they are comparable. i attempted to listen to them all, but i was only able to find the klipsch in stores. the only place i have seen the rest of them is online. i felt like i hit a dead end on trying to find input on the stuff. tahts why i brought it to the forum.

true everyone has their own tastes, but often, a group of people can agree on a significant difference in quality. and thats really what im looking for; if there is any significant difference in the quality of these speakers.

I would get some good headphones for now; Later you can go ahead and get some Def Tecs and complete your HT...

Nah....for a comp set-up I would get the Logitech Z-5300e unless you were able to listen to them all (ideal) and liked something better.

I'm pretty sure that the hiss was a source issue. The sound cards in most PCs are awful. The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 aren't perfect but they are probably head and shoulders the very best 2.1 computer speakers on the market. The Klipsch ProMedia GMX are a different animal. Not even in the same league. The GMX are kids gaming speakers, and look it. I'm not up on the rest, sorry.
ProMedia 2.1 vs ProMedia 2.1 GMX
