Top DAP & DAC / AMP's in 2018

I am considering the purchase of a DAP that can function as a DAC/AMP as well.

In other words, I would like to use this as a portable source to drive my Etymotics ER4XR iems *AND* as a DAC/AMP source to connect to my NAD C370 amplifier (connected to my B&W 602 S3 speakers).

So far I have found this one, the TEAC HA-P90SD.

Its price tag is around 470$. Ideally, my budget would be 400-500$, more towards 400$ than to 500$.

So what other DAPs that are DAC/AMP at the same time are regarded as the best in terms of sound quality here in 2018?

Personally, and many others agree, I just don't see a use for a dedicated DAP in 2018.

My phone handles FLAC and does everything I need for audio on-the-go, I tend to use my phone to control a headless streamer on my main rig.

There are some good deals on the outdated Fiio X5 gen 3.

I'm not happy with mine, or any of the other guys at work phones for audio. There is a built in concern (an audio nanny?) in many phone for our hearing that limits the volume. It's what prompted me to buy the Echo Dot for my lsr305s at work. The Dot does get loud enough. Otherwise I was going to have to root my phone to change the volume output, which may, or may not have other side effects to the phone's OS.

I am not a fan of cell phones in general. Mostly because I hate touch screens, the advertisement/app crud, and the rampant phonetardation that has gripped the population otherwise.

I've never had a problem on my Samsung Galaxy. But, yeah, you do have a point.

I do have a couple of headphone amps that I tend to use b/w my phone and headphones, that's the only place that my phone may struggle to get to the desired volume.
