For Xmas the wife is letting me have my way with 1200 For my home theater.
on the condition i finish the basement come summer.

in the meantime i intended on purchashing the BIC Acoustech system with a VSX-915-K.

first question, BIC Acoustech System for 824 shipped from Overstock is this the best price out there? I have read in different forums about Costco being 699, and if you call BIC they will give you that price, plus shipping of course.

2nd question 349 from Ibuydigital for the Pioneer

3rd question, Until I get the basement finished the living room 14X18 will be the location of my setup, Carpet, 9' Ceilings. Will this System set up fill the room nicely.

4th question. the basement will be approximately 24x16 when finished for the area that I get to dedicate to HT. Will this system be sufficient for the increased room size, we intend on going Ceiling mounted Projector(that's going to be a whole nother research option) with Carpet floors, when framing everything I intend to build in jacks and run my wires through the walls going to go 12ga unless someone convinces me otherwise.
I guess my question is this. will the RCVR and BIC's Be enough for this size room or will speaker upgrades be in the future? I intend on having 3 columns with 2 rows of 2 seats per column to give me 12 total seats. getting a good deal though my uncle on the seating.

5th question, With the wife allowing me to have this half of the basment. is there anything I can do to help with the sound Construction wise/materials etc. that will facilitate better performance from this setup.

Welcome!

1. That's the best price I've seen, and I'm not sure about the price from Costco or what BIC will do if you call them directly. The only way to is to call and find out.

2. I think that J&R will match, if not beat that price, and they are an authorized dealer (which means your warranty is good). Here's a product link: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4029706
Give them a call and they'll give you their best price. You may even be able to haggle a bit.

3. Your setup will definitely fill the room nicely. The Acoustechs are fairly sensitive so they'll fill the room decently.

4. The speakers should be fine, but I think you'll need a bigger subwoofer. The receiver should be okay (again, because of the sensitivity of the speakers).

5. I'm not sure exactly what you mean here. If you can, try to integrate some absorbing panels into your contruction to keep down reflections, make sure you can control light, and make sure to run conduit. Run BIG conduit to your equipment closet/area, as in 2-3" conduit. Run a 2" conduit to your projector for your signal cables.

for question 5,

Insulate every wall. Use wooden studs, not metal. I had a half wall put in to fill a hole, and the metal studs stink. The wall will vibrate if you give it good wack.

My room will be reno'd at some point, and I have been talking to people (contractors) about what I can do, and thats basically it. One guy did a room for someone and had led installed($$$$$) on every wall below the drywall to make it quieter (bedroom ;) ). Carpet on the floors, rectangle, Minimal windows, and make sure all doors close tight, and don't vibrate. You can put weather stripping around it to give it a great seal.

the 1015 Pioneer is starting to gain my interest.
would bumping up to this RCVR and using it's 7.1 ability by purchasing 2 more surrounds round out the system a little better?

If you can afford it, the 1015 is a worthy investment. I only use mine for 5.1 at the moment (room contraints) but I find it is a great piece. It has lots of great features and power, and good sound to boot. If you have a friend that works at Best Buy, you can get a KILLER deal on it. I did this for mine and paid under $333 out the door  At this price point, NOTHING competes.
