Too Many Reciever Choices

Ok, I am new to this forum so I apologize in advance for any stupid questions. I am looking for a receiver. I have three contenders:
Denon AVR-1709
Onkyo TX-SR606
HK AVR-254
I have a xbox 360, hd dvr, and eventually a ps3 so I need 3 hdmi inputs. I am on a limited budget, but don't want to go to cheap. What are your opinions on these receivers? Are there other competitors in the $300-$550 range I should consider.

Welcome to the forum!

That Onkyo has gotten some good press. It might be hard to beat in that price range. I don't know anything about the Denon or HK, though.

My other suggestion to look at in your price range is the Pioneer VSX-1018AH. Its total price on the internet from reputable dealers has been around the $450 mark. It has three HDMI inputs.

That Yamaha RX-V663 has also been recommended around here. It only has two HDMI inputs, but you could get an external HDMI switcher.

For me, I'd get the Pioneer out of that group, but I'm biased because I currently have a Pioneer 1015 and am really happy with it. I've owned Onkyo in the past and been happy, but the issue of excessive heat dissipation on the newer Onkyos would give me pause.
