The only proof required is to open your eyes and look around(as long as it doesnt involve driving more than 2 miles).
ahhh yes your scientific methods:rolleyes: Dont be so closed minded, I venture far and wide outside my spot in paradise. Just because thats what your eyes have seen doesnt mean they have seen them all:) While dome tweeters may be closley assiociated with home audio, especially mass merchant, the same couldnt be said for pro audio.

Could be, but I would prefer to listen to something before forking over $3,600.

Aside from the fact that people occasionally use pro equipment at home, this forum is not about pro audio, so your comments are irrelevant. Also, there are easily 100 speakers using dome tweeters for every 1 using some other technology.

ELT525's

I have a pair of the ELT525's that are currently in use for my surround channels. They are great little speakers. You may find some comparably priced speakers that sound as good, but they wont look as good (real cherry or rosewood veneer).

Listen to several of the options at local B&M stores. AV123 has a "risk free" trial so you can demo the speakers in your home without return shipping or other charges.

Thanks for your contribution Joe , are your speakers not pro audio. Also thanks for setting me straight on what audioholics is all about. At least when im trolling its past the 3rd Reef in 1500 ft of blue water. David hope this didnt get you side tracked and my responses have been helpful.

As I continue my search for affordable, great-sounding and good-looking mini monitors, I become exasperated because there are many choices. I was all set on the AV123 ELT525. Then I read about others made by companies such as:

EPOS
Whaferdale
PSB
KEF
USHER
DANA
Paradigm
Jamo

Some of them actually beat the ID stuff in look and price. I am still looking.

I'm a huge PSB fan but thats not what I'm recommending to you. What you need to do is be organized and prepare a list of wants and musts on the speaker you want to end up with. The speakers with the most musts are the ones you audition 1st. Pour thru the specs 1st ( but that's not always teh best practice ) if you feel the list is overwhelming and eliminate the ones that don't need the musts from a spec point of view. The trick to comparing anything is levelling the playing field and ensuring that any variable you can control is done so by you. Make sure speaker levels (loudness) are matched (equal) and are powered by compatable equipment. Bring with you music that you are intimately familiar with. Take plenty of notes on each speaker and describe your likes, dislikes etc. Good luck

Yes, I agree they look nice. What concerns me is they were designed to be surround speakers.

This is a very informative post that I would take to heart. I wish I would have listened to such advice before buying my Paradigms (which I am satisfied with btw). Choosing a speaker is very personal and the best anyone can do is provide their impressions (measurements withstanding, however someone must be able to comprehend them before they become useful...) As recommended, listen to as many speakers as possible in your local shops and use our recomendations as guidelines rather than definitive answers. The only speakers you will be happy with are those that sound best to you...Hope I have been helpful...
