I have been looking at purchasing an audio stand and Walmart has one that I believe will work fine. My question is that at 46.5" tall would that be too high to put my 40" Sony LCD on? This would also allow me to put my center channel speaker closer to the heigth of my mains. Still yet, I could also put my receiver and my dvd player on it as well. So, are there any other members here that have put a 40" or larger flat panel television on an audio stand at or about 46.5"???? If so, how did that work for you? Please help because I am not really sure what to do.

The rule of thumb for high the TV should be is that your line of sight should line up with the center of the screen when seated. If you look at the height of TV stands that are made by the same manufacturer of the TV you'll find that those stands are between 18" and 20" tall.

Mine is 24" tall and seems fine, but 46" is rather tall and you might find that tiring as you will essentially be tilting your head up to view the TV.

the rule I've heard before is that your eye level should be the line seperating the bottom third of the screen... I think this was mainly for projector screens but may also apply for tv viewing

Just think about what you stated. It's an audio stand. Not a television stand. I think it would be to high, but only you can really tell.

Your center channel doesn't have to be the same height as your mains. You can use Auralex MoPADs to adjust the center channel.

I use the rubber door stoppers you can get a the Family Dollar. They do the trick quite nicely but the mopads do look nice. How expensive are they?

I used a 36" tall stand before and it was too tall, so yes I would say it is too tall.

Yeah John I have decided to abandon the idea because it would be too tall. Thanks for offering your opinion.
