Todays Wireless speaker systems?

I did a quick search in history to see what I could find about wireless speakers, most of what i found were posts from a couple years back, and seemed to point out that wireless speakers suck. Well I'd like to know if anything has changed from since then. I'm not looking for audiophilie grade sound just something the average joe shmoe wouldn't mind listening to as they watch a movie. In my search of the web i came about 2 different types of HTIB (cringe i know) those that come with wireless and those that need a wireless adapter. I found a sony (yuck) dvd dream system that uses IR instead of say 900mhz or 2.8ghz, is there a better or they all the same.

I'm not sure how many of you have been in a Best buy or circuit city lately but they have those little setups with say a small couch a tv and a surround system in the middle of the store with no walls to bounce off of and 15' ceilings, this is pretty much my situation, so thats why i say sound quality isnt going to be great and many people will be listening to it so it's not to suite my own taste but rather just work and sound good enough. (which it pains me to say that sigh)

heres the sony:

here's the samsung:

have there been any reviews of these or simular?

Thanks for any help

Hey thanks guys I'll take a look at these. I was wanting to listen to that rant, but I don't know much abou tPodcasts do you need an Ipod? Or is there an Mp3 version. I'd never purchase another sony dream system (learned that lesson myself) I just found it interesting/funny they act as if IR is some special technology for sound.

I am not a big fan of Sony but I actually owned a Dream system at one point in my life. It was after a divorce where I "lost" two systems. One was a really nice HT set-up and the other was a really nice 2 channel set-up. I also lost the house and moved into an apartment for 4 months. Well, the new GF at the time bought me the Sony Dream System. I acted happy, set it all up and to my surprise; it wasnt that bad. Can you do better for 800 bucks...sure...will it get you buy...sure...

When I purchased my new house I set it up again and it just didnt work out there but for a small apartment; it was really ok. I sold it for 500 bucks after I had used it quite frequently for 1 year so I am pretty happy how it all woked out.
