Ok so..to test specific speakers I would always go to the levels and bring down the other speakers all the way.
Is there any other way that is safe to test say the Center speaker only? I would think disconnecting speaker cables is not a good idea even if I make sure they dont touch each other?
Silly question I know :D

PS Bonus question..I see people talking about the Receiver's temp..are they using a laser thermometer for this or is there a way to get that info from within the Receiver's app or menu?

Depending on the AVR/AVP you're using, there should be a setting that allows you to do a signal test for all the different channels one at a time. Level Test or some such variation of a name.

As far as the receivers temperature, there isn't an app or setting that I'm aware of to check that.

You could just go into speaker setup and turn off any speaker you're not using and use a direct mode of some sort to avoid down-mixing? Do you test left or right speakers on their own like that?

Sorry I meant to disable channels to test specific movie scenes for example or music not to run white noise .
