Okay, I admit it. I'm a sucker for vintage equipment. Right now I have Acoustic Research AR-4X bookshelf speakers that I fixed up. With restored crossovers they definitely have what I would call a pleasant sound to them. Still, I can't help but be tempted to try some newer, more accurate speakers.

I am considering trying the EMP E5Ti towers. From the few reports people have given on them so far, they sound like a good buy. My concern is that having gotten used to to what some call the "East Coast Sound" I'm not sure how something like these towers would compare.

Any opinions?

Also, for reference, I am powering my speakers with an Adcom GFA-535.

Yep.

I think given time you will get use to any 'sound'. May as well try for 'accurate'. I'm unfamiliar with those speakers but I generally believe that the 'time' to update is a matter of affordability and credit score.

When are you getting the EMP's? :)

I haven't completely settled on the EMP E5Ti towers yet. I've also been looking at other options like the eD A6-6T6 towers or tSc TST2 towers. Unfortunately there is no real way for me to audition these different speakers hence my taking to the forums.

Basically I'm considering tower options in the $400-$500 per pair range.
