Subwoofer remote? Thats nonsense. I have never touched the subwoofer output since setting it up years ago. Even on the rare occasion i want to show off more bass than i would just use my receivers remote to increase the subwoofer output.

I can tell you that once you get the SVS... your going to say to yourself "man i wasted a lot of time look for a reviews, when i could of been enjoying this sub" :p

Mike thanks for posting both of those charts, I see what you are saying.
Not sure why do they always show several colored lines, I see the legend on the right but does anyone have a link that explains how to better understand these different types of subwoofer charts?

I appreciate that, but actually the last sub I ordered by mail was a HUGE freaking waste of my time (had to mail that p.o.s. back to HSU Research), and since I can't hear these things in person, I'm sure you won't mind if I ask a few questions.

what HSU sub did you get, and what made you send it back? HSU is known for making some really good stuff.

LOL, yeah the HSU was "off."
The HSU was ordered before the Velo nearly 10 years ago, can't recall which model.
To be fair, I think they shipped me a defective unit or it was damaged in transit because it was so weak you could barely hear it. I called the company and the guy said "you need two." That unit looked like someone slapped it together in a garage and sprayed some kind of texture coating on it from a can. I sent it back and bought the Velo after hearing it at a local retailer. I'm sure they make quality units nowadays, but I'm not interested in HSU anymore so forgive me for bringing it up and let's drop that brand out of the discussion, thanks. :)

If there are any others who have experience with any of the units in post no. 1 please by all means speak up, I'm all ears... :)

I've heard the SVS PB12 and the ultras, they are nice subwoofers. The company is probably the only Internet-based speaker company I actually take seriously. There may be another, but I can't think of it right now. So, if your looking to buy a subwoofer over the Internet, I think that's your option period.

Velodyne makes nice stuff, I think you'd be happy with it also. Different sounding. I haven't heard the 5000R though, so I can't compare the SVS to it for you. :(

Thanks Mike,
and I did see those but I'm not too well versed in the chart graphics and I'm not as familiar with the gent named "Slartibartfast," so was hoping for a more comprehensive review from a known source, like something from Tom Nousaine or Johnson like this one below with both charts and words for the Velo 5000R. Do you know of a published review like the one below for the PB12NSD?

Best. Post. Ever.

I hear you and thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it...

In the old days, (2 years ago) you could go into a nice specialty retailer locally and compare this stuff.

Nowadays even Tweeter (Sound Advice) has gone out of business, and it seems the big box stores are mostly selling lower end merchandise.

Curious which sub you ended up getting ?

I have the 5000R and love it. One of the most musical subs I have heard.

I am sure the SVS is a great sub but I have not listened to one yet.

I have the SVS PB10 NSD, which is smaller than the one's you are considering, but it is amazing for its size and don't think you can go wrong with SVS.

I just recently sold my PB10, it is definitely an amazing sub, especially for a 10.

Velodyne DLS-5000R

i USE (2) DLS-5000R 1 IN THE FRONT OF THE ROOM AND THE OTHER IN THE REAR AND I AM VERY SATISFIED. i DO FIND THEM TO BE TOO POWERFUL AT MOST TIMES AND CAN EASILY BE TURNED DOWN BY REMOTE.
